Thermal Engineering International (USA), a Babcock Power Inc. Subsidiary, Announces Successful Completion of Joplin, Missouri Manufacturing Plant Expansion
Joplin, MO – Thermal Engineering International (TEi), a subsidiary of Babcock Power and a leading provider of heat transfer technology for the power generation, oil, gas, and chemical industries since 1916, proudly announces the completion of its manufacturing facility expansion in Joplin, Missouri. The expansion adds 18,000 square feet to the existing 100,000-square-foot facility, significantly increasing production capacity.
This strategic expansion reflects the growing demand for clean energy solutions and the resurgence of nuclear energy as a reliable, zero-emissions power source. It also aligns with the “Buy American” initiative, reinforcing TEi’s commitment to supporting domestic manufacturing. The enhanced facility will specialize in the production of Moisture Separator Reheaters (MSRs), contributing to the advancement of nuclear energy infrastructure in the United States.
The Joplin plant has been awarded Certificates of Authorization under Section III, Division 1 of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). These certifications authorize TEi to design and fabricate nuclear safety-related components and appurtenances, further strengthening its role as a trusted supplier in the nuclear power sector.
With the additional space, TEi is equipped to manufacture larger ‘Supertanker’ MSR designs. The expanded facility features cutting-edge technology, including 200-ton capacity overhead cranes and dedicated rail access for streamlined loading and unloading. These upgrades enable the plant to manage projects weighing up to 400,000 lbs, enhancing its ability to meet the evolving needs of the energy industry.
As the premier domestic supplier of Turbine Island heat exchangers, TEi’s offerings include Moisture Separator Reheaters, Feedwater Heaters, and Steam Surface Condensers. This expansion underscores TEi’s dedication to innovation and operational excellence.
